It’s Kind of a Big Deal; Anchorman 2 Movie Review

With his velvet suit and salon-quality hair, Ron Burgundy and his loyal news team makes a come back! Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (PG-13) lives up to the fan’s expectations, proving that waiting nearly a decade for the sequel to come out was worth it all along. If you enjoy hilarious comedies, a large amount of celebrity appearances, and surprisingly meaningful stories, then Anchorman 2 is the movie for you!

Ron Burgundy, played by Will Ferrell, put the past behind him and took on the first 24-hour news channel with his trademark mustache and quirky sense of humor. If you ever find yourself quoting the first movie out of the Anchorman series, then you’ll be very delighted to know that Anchorman 2 has even more ridiculous catch phrases such as “I can always guess how many jellybeans are in a jellybean jar, even if I’m wrong” said by the bizarre Brick Tamland, played by Steve Carell.

The film begins after Ron Burgundy gets fired while his wife, Veronica, played by Christina Applegate gets promoted. This tears their family apart and sparks a whole new path in life for Burgundy. Anchorman 2 is based in the 1980′s, and the movie is sprinkled with gags, such as giant cordless phones.

One of Ron Burgundy’s accomplices, Brick Tamland, is the questionably insane weather reporter. His romantic interest with Chani Lastnamé, played by the hilarious Kristen Wiig. Their awkward relationship goes on throughout the whole movie, telling each other things they liked about each other, such as “Your hair looks like wet popcorn,” and “ I like the parts of your face that are covered with skin.”  Moments like these make Anchorman 2 incredibly unique in its comedic standpoint.

Anchorman 2 may not be the most family-friendly of movies, but there are  many memorable moments throughout that are bound to make you leave the theater laughing.
